FJC Volunteer Form

We’re excited that you’re interested in volunteering with the Family Justice Center! You will have a chance to indicate below if you are interested in volunteering with Camp HOPE and our youth programming, a student internship with the Family Justice Center, assisting FJC clients as a volunteer court navigator, or if you are a survivor interested in our VOICES committee.

Your Information

Academic Internship

Field placements for academic programs in related fields provide opportunities for emerging professionals to learn from our many onsite and community partners working within the fields of violence response and prevention. FJC internships are available on a semester basis for individuals age 18+ and require at least a semester long commitment due to the training provided and the importance of consistency to client services. Supervision is provided by onsite FJC staff, with expertise, including mental health (LMFT, LCMHC), and experience collectively totaling more than 100 years in the field.

Youth Program Volunteer

The FJC provides many services to those affected by domestic and sexual violence in one location, and volunteers are invaluable in supporting daily operations and specialty programs. The Family Justice Center's youth program is designed for children and youth who have experienced domestic violence or abuse. Participants experience pathways to hope and healing through community with their peers, support from mentors, and challenging, fun group activities. 

HOPE Counselor (Must be age 17-24) - Serve as a mentor and leader for children and teens who have experienced domestic violence and abuse. HOPE Counselors are expected to commit to at least 2 semesters (Spring, Summer, Fall), volunteering at monthly programs. HOPE Counselors also have the opportunity to be selected as a camp counselor for the week for Camp HOPE in August.

Volunteer support is valuable to the programs and services provided through the Family Justice Center partnership. Please indicate the opportunities you are interested in joining as a youth program volunteer.

Volunteer Court Navigator

The FJC Volunteer Court Navigator program supports victims of crime seeking services from the Guilford County Family Justice Center by providing advocacy and support for clients in court through accompaniment, court education, and safety planning. This position informs clients of available FJC services and resources, offers emotional support and connection for victims and their loved ones, and promotes the mission of the FJC within the community. Court Navigators must be at least 21 years of age and are expected to commit at least four hours a month to a case.

The next cohort for training is scheduled for Fall 2025. Volunteer applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with interviews scheduled for select applicants during the following timeframes: April- July and November- January.

The FJC serves individuals and families impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, child abuse, and elder abuse. Please indicate the types of criminal cases you are interested in supporting as a volunteer court navigator.

VOICES Committee

The VOICES Committee consists of survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault who volunteer their time and use their collective voices to help others through advocacy, education, and empowerment. The VOICES Committee works closely with the Guilford County Family Justice Center leadership to ensure FJC services and outreach efforts meet the needs of survivors. The committee’s mission focuses on community awareness and providing pathways to hope for survivors. 

Volunteer applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with interviews scheduled for select applicants during the following timeframes: April - July and November - January.
